Comments about Cedarberg: Very helpful and good advice on places to stay, duration etc.
Comments about places stayed: All great with the exception of De Hoop cottage which was very basic and small twin bedroom we felt we might have been better off in two separate units. The restaurant and service at De Hoop was far better than we expected. Highlight of the places we stayed was again Avordrood. Rooms outstanding and attention from staff especially Justin was brilliant. Veronica at Bosavern was really helpful and arranged some restaurants and taxis before we arrived. The property is stunning but a few more little touches would make a difference such as daily water, some biscuits, tissues and body lotion would be welcome and were provided elsewhere. We stayed four nights but only received water on the first day.
Franschhoek was the most enjoyable time. Four days at Plettenberg was possibly a day too long and we were very glad we didn’t stay at Lillypond which was suggested as it appeared to miles from anywhere when we drove past! Hilsnek was a great lodge and staff were lovely but animal sightings were a bit sparse so not sure if there are better options.
How likely is that you would recommend us?: 10 – Extremely likely

Many thanks for the feedback and glad that overall it was a great holiday. Game viewing is always hard to predict! I contacted HillsNek Amakhala and they told me that “Sometimes nature dictates and certain species may traverse into deep valleys or semi-wilderness areas that are difficult to access by vehicle. It’s just unfortunate that nature didn’t seem to play along for these guests including some rainy weather that can dampen game viewing. In saying that, they did still see quite a few high profile species during their stay.” We are confident that HillsNek in particular and Amakhala in general remain excellent options for an Eastern Cape safari.
