Thank you for your email. It was on my list to reach out to you this week to let you know that we had an absolutely amazing time. My only wish is that we could have made the trip longer. In particular, if I were to book it all over again, I would add 1-2 more nights at Mhondoro. The location, amenities, and staff were all incredible.
Entabeni was a great start to the trip. The landscape in that area was stunning and it was amazing that we were able to see wildebeest, impala and warthogs on our drive there. This experience was great value and the morning light off the escarpment was breathtaking.
Mhondoro was an incredible highlight. The lodge was so beautiful but the staff were even better. Our game drive operator, Ivan, was amazing. He was entertaining, but incredible knowledgeable, and has a real respect for the wildlife, and understands animal behavior. The scenery in this area was amazing and quite distinct from Entabeni so it was great to add this stay to the mix. All in all, Mhondoro just had such an eye for all the small details, and those nuances that create an unforgettable experience.
Nkwichi was out of this world. We were the only guests at the lodge during our stay and everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating. One of the reasons I really wanted to go to this lodge is because of the great work they’re doing with the local communities. I found Nkwichi was much more than a tourist experience; it was a case study for what responsible tourism can look like. The staff here were incredible, extremely accommodating and friendly. The star bed and the snorkelling here was incredible.
We found Kaya Mawa to be the refined older sister to Nkwichi – simply beautiful location, rooms, decor, etc. The work they have done and continue to do alongside the people on Likoma Island, and its tourism industry is excellent as well. We understand Kaya Mawa was recently sold to Green Safaris, so we hope that this company continues to work as closely with the community here and that all the small touches are continued. We kayaked to the sister backpackers, Mango Drift, and the energy and amenities here were great as well. Mango Drift could be a good option for people looking for a more affordable stay on an equally beautiful beach.
Thank you so much for booking this experience for us, Mari. Everything was so well organized and went so smoothly, from car rental and driving and hotel directions, to lodge details, inclusions, exclusions, etc. The link you gave us with all the details on the locations we were going to as well as the detailed itinerary and pre-departure information was very helpful. We’re grateful for your efforts and for making this an outstanding experience for us.
I have already sent your details to friends in case they’re interested in booking a trip of their own, and now that Tom has seen the beauty of Africa I know I won’t have to convince him to head back there again.
I’m dreaming of safari in Namibia next time, and I would only want to book it through Cedarberg.
