How would you rate your holiday with Cedarberg, overall? Excellent
We just returned from our third African safari booked with Milandi. I cannot say enough about our high satisfaction with Cedarberg and, particularly, Milandi. Milandi has always worked with us, making recommendations based on our preferences, and together we “tweak” the itinerary until it is perfect for us. Milandi is efficient, highly responsive, knowledgeable, friendly, and seems to really care and act excited about our booked adventure. Each time we have traveled, all arrangements have been punctual and without any delays or cancellations. Every detail has been prearranged. During our most recent trip, Milandi even checked us in for each of our domestic and intercontinental flights, knowing that we would not have the capability to do so from the camps we visited. Cannot recommend Milandi highly enough!!
We enjoyed 8 nights of mobile tented camping in three different areas in Botswana. Fabulous bush experience! Each night we were awakened by sounds of roaring lions and hyena. You have to be prepared for a camping environment, but the staff and fun, knowledgeable guide served us SO well. It is the true bush experience. Very good animal siting. We also stayed 4 nights each at three camps in South Africa — Shindzela Bush Camp (Timbavati area), Notten’s Bush Camp (Sabi Sands area), and White Elephant Camp (Pongola Reserve).
Each was awesome in different ways. Shindzela was a great setting, with wonderful permanent tent accommodations, friendly staff, good food, and good animal siting. Notten’s was amazing — luxurious accommodation with the best service I have ever experienced. Food was very good and good animal siting — saw lots of rhinos. White Elephant Camp was a different setting, with less animal viewing (possibly due to drought??), but we had the opportunity to spend time on the water (Lake Jozini) and fish (sadly, unsuccessfully during our stay) for tiger fish. Was very pleasant and relaxing spending time on the water.
The permanent tented accommodations were very nice. Missed seeing any elephants during our stay there. At all three camps in South Africa, we enjoyed outdoor showers, a luxury we don’t get to experience anywhere else we travel. Saw all of the Big Five, and then some during our three-week visit to the areas mentioned. If you rate just animal siting, Botswana probably surpassed the camps we visited in SA. But, overall, our visit was amazing. As the saying goes, you can leave Africa, but Africa doesn’t leave you.
What did you most enjoy? Anything you’d do differently? Most enjoyed animal viewing. However, to end the trip, spending time on the water is very relaxing and offers respite from bumpy game drives and just simply another dimension to the safari experience.
