Rissington Inn review by Peter Bates

A firm Cedarberg favourite in Hazyview that continues to deliver. Its albeit moderate accommodation is looking good; the gardens are well kept and good to stroll through. The food has some interesting twists and the place retains its owner-run charm thanks to Chris Harvie continuing to be at the helm.

  • Very relaxed atmosphere
  • Good range of food – nothing flash, but very appealing
  • Bar is a great place to gather for a drink before dinner
  • Accommodation is moderate but the Hillside suites great for families or two couples travelling together

Though they are graded as a four star option, they actually prefer to sell themselves as a 3½ star Inn, which I think is correct. It was a good reminder to not oversell the property. Here you’ll get comfortable accommodation at an affordable price. We stayed in the newer superior rooms, which are extremely spacious with equally large bathrooms with double showers. Garden Suites are all spacious with Victorian baths and outdoor showers as an extra. But we didn’t feel there was a big difference in standard.

Their two Hillside Suites are great for families of four or five, and there is also a shared private swimming pool for these two units. Quality of their food was good and they have BIG variety of dishes, which is especially good for the longer stays. Happy to recommend as a moderate option.
