Review of Neptune Ngorongoro Luxury Lodge by Kate

Slighly surprisingly I liked this lodge, despite its incongruous name! It is the closest lodge to the park gates, literally a few hundred metres away, so it is ideal for an early entry into the park. It also has a really stunning setting overlooking the dark and brooding indigenous forest.

The main lodge sort of looks like an overgrown Scottish manor on the inside and was a little dark in terms of lighting. But the ambience was attractive and it suits the cooler highland atmosphere of the Ngorongoro region.

The rooms are spacious, each with separate sitting room. The back row looks over the front row of cottages to the forest. But the roofs, with their unique Tanzania thatching, are so attractive that you really don’t mind, which I found unusual.
