Travel from Dar es Salaam to Lobito in Angola, on this is spectacular 15 night luxury train journey with Rovos Rail.

This bespoke train journey linking some of the African continent’s greatest destinations with a variety of off-train excursions. This voyage sets off on this new 15-day expedition traversing Tanzania, Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Angola. It is the first time in history that a passenger train travelled the famous east-to-west copper trail on this route. Now you can experience it to.

Step aboard the vintage wood-panelled coaches and sit back as some of the most varied scenery imaginable unfolds beyond the windows. as you set off from the Tanzanian capital, Dar es Salaam (a city familiar to Rovos Rail as it has been running its Cape to Dar trip there since 1993)

Enjoy a game visit in the Selous Game Reserve, after which you will travel towards the jungled Udzungwa Mountains and negotiates the dramatic switchbacks, viaducts and tunnels of the escarpment. The train passes baobab forests and ascends the Rift Valley to the border, almost exactly the midpoint between Africa’s two Great Rift Valley lakes. a Two-night stay in South Luangwa National Park will ensure some great game viewing opportunities. Learn about the history of some of the Africa Kingdoms and villages as you make your way to Lobito Station, Benguela Province, Angola
