Spring Wild Flower tour

Overview
The spring flowers of the West Coast, Cedarberg and north to Namaqualand have a worldwide reputation. This area receives little rain throughout the year but after winter rains, the normally dry landscape is swathed with vibrant bands of flowers, with nemesias, lachenalias, babiana and ixias seen in great profusion. Our tour will include Nature Reserves near the towns on our route.
The wide variety of wild flowers in this area is largely due to the varied topography - fertile valleys, high mountains, semi-desert plains and the unique sandveld region near the coast. Higher up in the Cedarberg, the protea flowers are seen with their spectacular large bulbous flowers.
On the first day, we will drive north to Agama Tented Camp from where we can then drive at a leisurely pace from NORTH to SOUTH, thus viewing the flowers as they look towards the sun. With the sun behind us, we will see the colours at their best.
Note: we used to drive to Springbok to stay overnight. But the timing of the flower displays means that sometimes they are ''over'' in the north for the later departures. So IF there are flowers in the northern Namaqualand, then we will drive north on day 2 to enjoy them.
