The 10 night Zimbabwe Safari Explorer tour offers four contrasting scenic areas of Zimbabwe.
Start with 2 nights in Victoria Falls, with a day at leisure to enjoy some of the many activities on offer. Continue on to a private concession adjacent to the Zambezi River at Imbabala Safari Lodge for a few days on safari. Enjoy game-viewing by vehicle and boat. Then you transfer south by road to Hwange National Park for 3 nights on safari in this prime game-viewing area. The Zimbabwe Safari Explorer ends with flying to Mana Pools National Park for a water and land safari in the serene setting of Kanga Safari Lodge before flying back to Victoria Falls.
2 nights Extension to include Lake Kariba and the Matusadona National Park
If you have time, we strongly recommend a 2 night extension to Lake Kariba to stay at Changa Safari Camp.
Note that this safari with Mana Pools is only possible between April and 9 December. Want to travel between December and March? We suggest that you substitute 3 nights at Changa Safari Lodge on Lake Kariba instead of Mana Pools. Contact us for a quote.
It is easy to add extra nights at any of the lodges. If you add a night at Imbalala, then you have a three night special offer which is both a net saving ANDincludes a full day tour into Chobe National Park in Botswana. It is also possible to substitute different lodges within the same area if you wish (though this will change the price)…

Transfer to Hwange National Park for 3 nights at The Hide Safari Camp, Full Board & Game Activities
After breakfast, you are transferred by road to the entrance of Hwange National Park. On arrival you are met and transferred by 4×4 vehicle to The Hide Safari Lodge.
Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s premier game park. Hwange is big game country with massive herds of elephants, especially visible at the end of the dry season in September, as well as lion, buffalo, hyena, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest sable, roan and other antelope. Game-viewing in Hwange is made easier by the shallow salt pans throughout the park. These natural salt pans offer the perfect cooling mud bath for elephants. Here you take part in early morning and late afternoon game drives in open 4×4 vehicles and game walks.
The Hide is a classic tented safari lodge on the eastern boundary of Hwange which is owner-run. A tented camp is perhaps the definitive African safari experience, as you are able to hear the sounds of the bush all around you in the cool of the night. The small size of The Hide is one of its differentiating features, as this means that you have an intimate atmosphere in camp, as well as a greater feeling of the untrammelled open spaces of the bush when you are on a game drive. The Hide’s main area is a picturesque A-frame thatched lodge with dining room and sun lounge downstairs and a large lounge/viewing area upstairs.

Lake Kariba for 3 nights, Bumi Hills Safari Lodge, Full Board & Game Activities
Shortly after breakfast, you are transferred to the airstrip for your charter flight to Lake Kariba via Victoria Falls. There will be a break in Victoria Falls where you can have some lunch (own account). On arrival at Lake Kariba in the mid afternoon, you are met and transferred by 4×4 vehicle to Changa Safari Camp where you stay for 3 nights.
Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe was formed when the middle Zambezi river was dam-flooded in the late 1950’s, bringing not only much needed hydroelectricity but also the pleasures of an inland sea and a glorious ‘coastline’ to the country. This shimmering lake, with its characteristic silhouettes of dead trees, is a paradise for photographers particularly at sunset. The Matusadona mountains provide a fitting backdrop.

Today you fly onto Mana Pools National Park for 3 nights at Kanga Camp.
Mana Pools is renowned for its large numbers of elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, and eland that concentrate along the river when the inland waterholes dry up – especially in the winter months. Leopard and lion are present but are not seen as regularly. This World Heritage Site is one of the least developed national parks in Zimbabwe and it’s this overwhelming sense of wilderness which is as much of an attraction of Mana Pools as its wildlife.
