Day 3

Half day Cape Malay market & cooking tour

This morning you are collected for a half day Cape Malay Cooking Safari tour including lunch. You get to know aspects of the cultural diversity that Cape Town has to offer on the interactive guided walk through the historical heart of the Bo-Kaap with a mini shopping safari. The focus lies on the Cape Muslim people with their South-East Asian heritage, their culture, their community and their food and links between these.

The walking tour stops at a local spice shop and halaal butcher, there are plenty of opportunities to interact with locals and to discover typical ingredients. The shop-keeper himself, when available, or the knowledgeable guide, will take you behind the counter to taste, smell and touch your way through typical ingredients (when open and suitable to the specific itinerary of the day). This is a true sensory delight.

You make your own own meal with the assistance and guidance of the local host. This is the perfect occasion to gain insight into local culture and hear some real-life stories first-hand while having fun.

Day 4

Tour of the Cape Winelands, 2 nights Oude Werf Hotel, B&B

This morning you are collected from Camps Bay and you enjoy a tour of the Winelands before you are dropped off in Stellenbosch for your 2 night stay.

The Winelands region is an area of exquisite beauty with rocky mountains overlooking green vineyards; oak avenues leading to elegant Cape Dutch wine estates and some of the most charming towns and villages in South Africa. The main pleasure of this region is the enjoyment of the good life: appreciating the wine and the superb architecture, enjoying long, lazy meals in one of the many excellent restaurants, browsing in shops and galleries or taking scenic drives or walks in the surrounding mountains. Explore the oak-lined streets of Stellenbosch, a bustling university town; enjoy the rural charm of the Huguenot settlement of Franschhoek or meander along a wine route.

Private Winelands full day tour

Today you enjoy a private tour to the Cape Winelands for a leisurely exploration of the historic towns of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek as well as wine tasting at local wine estates. The majestic scenery of the Winelands is unparalleled so even if you don’t drink wine, the countryside and history make it well worth the visit.

A combination of the favourable effects of the two major ocean currents meeting off the Cape makes the climate in the area perfect for the acres of vineyards. The stunning backdrop of the mountains, the tree-lined streets and the white gabled Cape Dutch homesteads all blend in tranquil harmony.

The exact wine estates to be visited will vary for each private tour as everyone has their own preference in wine. Your guide will discuss all the options with you and select the best wine estates to visit. The tastings will include high quality (and often award winning) red and white wines.
