Apartheid Museum Tour

The Apartheid Museum is the story of the triumph of the human spirit over adversity.

The museum, the first of its kind, illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid. It continues right up to Nelson Mandela’s release from prison in 1990 and the first democratic elections in 1994. A multi-disciplinary team of curators, filmmakers, historians and designers assembled the museum. The exhibits range from film footage, photographs, text and artifacts. Each illustrates the events and human stories that are part of the epic saga known as apartheid.

A visit to the Apartheid Museum is essential for anyone wanting to understand and experience what South Africa was really like during that time.

We like to combine an Apartheid Museum tour with nearby Soweto. Ideally, such a tour takes about 6 hours. However, it can be done in half a day if you are short on time. You need to allow at least two hours for the Apartheid museum.

Alternatively, you can add in Constitution Hill to make a truly fascinating full-day tour.

Please note that we do not book this tour on a standalone basis, but you can book it online on the supplier’s website if you follow this link: https://www.apartheidmuseum.org/visiting-us
