The Boma Hotel

CEDARBERG RATING

Premier

Overview

The Boma is a friendly and relaxed guest-house style hotel only a few minutes drive from Entebbe airport. With its personal service and character,  The Boma guesthouse is a sympathetic partner with small tented safari camps.

The Boma is an original 1940s residence transformed to provide 16 en suite rooms. In the comfortable public areas a few African touches have been added to the classic colonial architecture and furnishings. The guest rooms are simply furnished with the same marriage of styles. They do vary in amenities but all have TV and almost all have showers (two have a bath and shower over), four poster beds with mosquito nets and verandas.

The extensive tropical gardens offer lots of places to enjoy a cool drink, dine under the stars, curl up with a book or enjoy the birdlife. There is a swimming pool with loungers.

Facilities and Activities

Other facilities include a bar, dining room, small business centre and craft shop. WiFi is available in the public areas. The Boma also has a number of bicycles for hire, ideal for exploring Entebbe and the Botanical Gardens.

Many guests stay at The Boma in Entebbe before or after a safari and their length of stay is dictated by domestic and regional flight schedules. Activities nearby include visits to the excellent Entebbe Botanical Gardens, the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (formerly the zoo), sundowners on the lakeshore or sunset cruises on Lake Victoria. Further afield are Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary or the Mabamba Swamp, home to the wondrous Shoebill stork. Both of these would be a half day excursion.
