Xudum Okavango Delta Lodge is situated on the edge of the permanent waters of the Okavango Delta in an exclusive 25,000 ha private wildlife concession. It is close to one of the permanent channels of the Delta and overlooks a lagoon, rich in bird and animal life, with plenty of hippo and large herds of buffalo regularly coming to drink.
Xudum offers both a water and wilderness experience with the excitement of viewing big game. Open 4×4 morning, afternoon and even night game drives set off in search of predators and other nocturnal animals. Other activities include boating and mekoro (traditional dugout canoe) trips on the delta, and guided game walks on the islands to track animals. Given the watery terrain, this is NOT primarily an area for big game viewing, but more about enjoying the beauty and serenity of the Delta.
Xudum Okavango Delta Lodge consists of nine playfully crafted safari tents complete with large bath tubs and romantic al fresco showers. Each suite also has a private plunge pool, and a lofty hideout with magnificent views over the lagoon. If you wish, you can even sleep out on this fabulous rooftop area to enjoy the night stars over the Okavango Delta in complete safety – perfect for all romantics. The innovative, layered guest areas boast dramatic decks with 180° views of the surrounding wilderness yet they discreetly remain within the tree line. These suites or ‘spaces’, are designed in such a way to make your overall experience more intimate, with massive, oversized sofas for total relaxation.
Xudum offers excellent birding with the possibility of seeing the elusive Pel’s fishing owl or malachite kingfishers. Helicopter transfers into the camp are available at extra cost.
Children are welcome at Xudum though only children of 6 and upwards can join game drives and mekoro activities. Children of 16 years or more can participate in guided walks. An extra bed can be arranged for a child sharing a tent with his parents.
Xudum Okavango Delta Lodge is one of & Beyond’s Botswana lodges. Sister camps include Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp, Nxabega Tented Camp, Sandibe Safari Lodge in the southern Okavango Delta, as well as its semi-mobile camps such as Chobe and Savute under Canvas.
