Day 1
Charter flight to Lower Zambezi for 3 nights
This morning you take a charter flight from Lusaka to one of the Lower Zambezi airstrips for your three night safari in the Lower Zambezi National Park. On arrival at the airstrip, you are met by your ranger for the transfer to your safari camp.
The Lower Zambezi National Park is an exceptional beautiful park bounded by the Zambezi river on one side. Behind the floodplains rises a dramatic wooded escarpment which provides both a picturesque backdrop for your photographs, but more pertinently, a natural boundary for the animals’ movements. All in all this means that game-viewing in the Lower Zambezi National Park is very good indeed especially in the dry season (June to October)
On arrival at your camp you enjoy some lunch and settle into your room. Later in the afternoon you enjoy the first of your game activities. One of the most attractive aspects about a safari in the Lower Zambezi is that game-viewing activities are very varied. Game activities take place on foot, in open 4x4 vehicles, by boat and, most characteristically, by canoe.
Choice of Chiawa Camp or Kulefu Camp:
Chiawa Camp, in the Lower Zambezi National Park, has an expansive river setting on the Zambezi river under the shade of ancient mahogany trees. Chiawa Camp has been run by the Cummings family for years and is especially known for its excellent guiding and professionally run safari operation. Nine spacious, shaded safari tents are elevated on timber decks, each with twin beds with spring mattresses, en suite facilities, insect screens and mosquito nets.
Profoundly peaceful, eco-friendly and well-appointed, Kulefu Camp overlooks one of the permanent channels of the Zambezi River. The camp has been recently been completely refurbished giving it a sophisticated and luxurious feeling. Eight spacious tented rooms are on raised teak decks with twin beds or double beds, mosquito nets, , private veranda and en-suite facilities. The informal bar, lounge and dining area are housed in a magnificent central tent, giving an open-air feel and harmonising with the surrounding environment. Teak "campaign" furniture and natural fabrics add comfort and ambience.

Days 2 & 3
On Safari in Lower Zambezi
This morning you wish what activity takes your fancy. Perhaps take a canoe safari - gliding silently among animals as they quench their thirst at the Zambezi river and its tributaries. Or take a bush walk or game drive. Your guide is on hand to discuss the various options with you. Excellent tiger fishing is also available on a catch and release basis.
The middle part of the day is usually spent relaxing at the lodge, watching the game from the tranquillity of your own deck or at the viewing hide. The pattern for the afternoon is similar to the first day with afternoon tea followed by the safari activity of your choice. As the sun sets, an afternoon drive might become a night safari following nocturnal animals as they begin to hunt. Afterwards you return for an atmospheric dinner back at the camp.
