Highlights
• One of the most reasonably priced Lower Zambezi lodges
• Family friendly option
• Each family chalet has its own guide and vehicle
• Focus on boat cruises and river activities rather than on game drives
Kasaka River Lodge, on the edge of the Lower Zambezi National Park, lies further upstream and is one of the most reasonably priced lodges in the Lower Zambezi area. It is cleverly divided into two parts. The wilder side of the lodge has several very comfortable tented rooms, including a delightful honeymoon tent complete with four poster bed and outdoor bath. The other side of the main lodge has the swimming pool and an area of lawn. Here there some more tented rooms and some spacious two bedroom family chalets.
Kasaka River Lodge family chalets are a more moderately priced alternative to exclusive use lodges such as Chongwe River House. In the family chalets, each bedroom has a spacious en suite bathroom and there’s a small sitting area with two extra beds so that it can sleep up to six people. Outside there’s a large teak deck for relaxing during the day. What we particularly like is that each family chalet has its own guide and vehicle so that you can tailormake your Lower Zambezi safari to suit your particular family’s needs and likes.
Kasaka River Lodge is further away from the Lower Zambezi National Park -it takes 20 to 30 mins by vehicle to get there, but its river setting means that it has equal access to the Zambezi river for boat cruises and tiger fishing. Given its location, it’s important to note that its focus is more on the river than on game-viewing by 4x4 vehicles.
