Lunga River Lodge found in The Busanga Plains cover an area of approximately 750 sq km and is skirted by the Lunga River on their eastern side in Zambia. This perennial river is one of the three main tributaries into the Basanga Plains. Situated on the banks of this magnificent Lunga river is Lunga River Lodge.

Lunga River Lodge has six spacious thatched rooms with private decks shaded by large jackal berry trees. They all overlook the river with breathtaking views of Kafue National Park. An elevated dining room faces the sunset and the pool, bar and sundecks are suspended over the river.

A maximum of 12 guests can be accommodated at any one time at Lunga River Lodge and great emphasis has been placed on the guided experience - being led by qualified, enthusiastic people with in-depth knowledge of the area and its wildlife. Activities include game drives, walking safaris, guided canoe and boating trips as well as fishing. Night drives provide the added excitement of the nocturnal wonders of the Kafue area uniquely Zambian.

Viewing of buffalo herds and elephant bulls is good while lion and leopard are regularly encountered. Species like puku and impala are abundant while roan and Lichtenstein's hartebeest occur in lower densities in the Kafue National Park.

Additional interesting species in the form of yellow baboons and tree hyrax can be found in the vicinity of Lunge River Lodge while a high-density hippo population occurs in the Lunga River.
