New flights link Jo'burg and Kruger with Mozambique
A few years ago we 'lost' a very convenient flight schedule which allowed us to fly clients from an airport near Kruger to Vilanculos in Mozambique. Sadly the floods in 2000 put paid to that service but the good news is that local Mozambican carrier Pelican Air has secured the rights to fly this route again. This is truly something to celebrate as it means that we can offer a smooth and easy 'safari then beach' trip without any enforced layover in Johannesburg.
The simple lodge resorts on the islands of the Bazaruto archipelago (off the coast near Vilanculos) are the ideal beach lodge complement to a safari. Unlike the large 'full on' hotels of Mauritius, they are small but bijoux and offer highly attentive personal service - just like our favourite safari lodges. We feature two lodges on Benguerra Island, Benguerra Lodge and Marlin Lodge and third on Bazaruto Island, Indigo Bay. Each has a slightly different character but they can also be combined for those who find the choice too tough a call!
From the 11 July, Pelican (also known as TTA) will have a new daily flight departing from Johannesburg, stopping at Kruger Mpumalanga (KMIA) and then flying on to Vilanculos in Mozambique. However, from as soon as 04 April there will be one flight a week on a Saturday.
