This Eastern Cape safari departs Port Elizabeth for Shamwari Game Reserve and is easily added to a number of our tours in the Cape. Enjoy game drives with experienced and informative rangers in open landrovers as well as fascinating game walks. You can choose between the ultra-luxurious Lobengula and Eagles Crag lodges (for a supplement) or the stylish Long Lee Manor, Bushmans River or Bayethe Lodges.

Day 1 : Depart Port Elizabeth for 3 nights Shamwari Game Reserve, Fully Inclusive
You will be collected from PE airport by our representative and transferred to Shamwari Game Reserve. Shamwari is at the convergence of 5 ecosystems and thus supports elephant, lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and varied antelope. This beautiful 20,000 hectare reserve comprises 6 air-conditioned lodges. Bayethe is a luxury tented lodge with private plunge pools. As well as game-viewing, you can visit the two Born Free Big Cat Sanctuary based here. TGCSA 5 star lodge. Other lodges include: Long Lee Manor is an elegant Edwardian manor house with 19 classically decorated bedrooms and a Spa (Children welcome). Bushmans River (4 suites) and Riverdene (9 suites) are intimate colonial homesteads whilst Bayethe Lodge and Hills offers 12 luxurious tented suites each with private plunge pool. In the north Lobengula Lodge and Spa, decorated in African style, has 6 luxurious suites under thatch, each with outside shower and private deck. Eagles Crag Lodge and Spa is an avant-garde masterpiece of thatch, stone and glass. 9 luxurious rooms, each with private deck and plunge pool, have views over the bush.

Day 2 : On safari at Shamwari
You enjoy open-vehicle game drives with an experienced ranger and tracker who work together to give you a deeper understanding of the wildlife and the natural cycles of the bush. Their bush knowledge, practical skills and love of nature promise you informative, exciting and rewarding encounters with the wildlife. Drives are in the early morning and late afternoon when game is most likely to be active. The following morning as the animals rise early, to hunt in the cool of the day, you take your game drive immediately after early morning tea and coffee. The drive finishes in time for a late breakfast which will be keenly appreciated after your early morning activity. After breakfast, you can go on an optional guided walk into the bush with a ranger, or you can simply relax around the lodge during the heat of the day. A late afternoon game drive will introduce you to some of the nocturnal animals and their predators before enjoying at atmospheric dinner back at the lodge.

Day 4 : Return to Port Elizabeth
After a last game activity and breakfast, you are transferred by road back to the Port Elizabeth airport in time for your onward arrangements.
