Day 1 : Depart Johannesburg for 2 nights Makweti Game Lodge, Waterberg, Full Board and Game Drives Today you are transferred from the Johannesburg Airport to Makweti Game Lodge in the Welgevonden Game Reserve in the Waterberg region. This beautiful reserve has a varied terrain supporting a wide range of general game and the Big Five.
Makweti is a luxurious private lodge with only six rooms offering a very personal safari experience. Each chalet has a Victorian bathtub, large indoor and outdoor showers and lovely viewing deck. Other facilities include a rock swimming pool, library, bar, lounge and large sundeck.
You enjoy open-vehicle game drives with an experienced ranger and tracker who work together to give you a deeper understanding of the wildlife and the natural cycles of the bush. Their bush knowledge, practical skills and love of nature promise you informative, exciting and rewarding encounters with the wildlife. Drives are in the early morning and late afternoon when game is most likely to be active.
On arrival you settle into your room and then take afternoon tea before setting off on your game drive. As the sun sets, the afternoon drive becomes a night safari following nocturnal animals as they begin to hunt. The evening meal is often enjoyed in a ?boma? or even in the bush around an open fire, which many guests feel is a particularly evocative treat.
|
Day 2 : On safari at Makweti The following morning as the animals rise early, to hunt in the cool of the day, you take your game drive immediately after early morning tea and coffee. The drive finishes in time for a late breakfast which will be keenly appreciated after your early morning activity. After breakfast, you can go on an optional guided walk into the bush with a ranger. These morning game walks offer the ultimate, close-to-the-wild experience, and a chance to focus on the smaller bush inhabitants including birds, insects and butterflies.
The middle part of the day is generally spent relaxing by the pool, or catching up on your sleep! The pattern for the rest of the day is similar to the day before with lunch and a late afternoon game drive.
|
Day 3 : Return to Johannesburg After a final morning game drive followed by breakfast, you are transferred back to the Johannesburg Airport by road for your onwards travel arrangements.
