This tour is ideal for nature-lovers who want to get away from the tourist hordes and is easily combined with Cape Town and the Winelands to the south. It gives you a flavour of the Cedarberg mountains with its dramatic natural beauty, fascinating San (Bushmen) rock art as well as traditional West Coast hospitality. You stay high in the mountains on the first night, in the picturesque town of Clanwilliam on the second and finally on the West Coast on the third night.

Day 1 : Depart Cape Town for 1 night, Mount Ceder Lodge, Cedarberg Mountains
We take a scenic drive to Tulbagh where we explore this charming 18th century village with its whitewashed Cape Dutch houses, enjoy some wine tasting and a traditional Cape Malay lunch. We continue through the rugged Southern Cedarberg to Mount Ceder Lodge where we can swim in the crystal clear river. The nine cottages range from one to four bedrooms, all with Oregon pine furnishings. They are immaculately kept and well-stocked with obvious pride and attention to detail.

Day 2 : Cedarberg Mountains, Stadsaal and Cederberg Wine Estate, 1 night Ndedema Lodge, Clanwilliam
This morning we start early for a magnificent scenic drive through the mountains with an optional short walk and visit to the Stadsaal rock formations, Bushmen paintings and wine tasting at the Cederberg Wine Estate. Lunch is at the peaceful Algeria Forest Station where we can swim in the inviting swimming hole in Summer. We continue to Clanwilliam, one of the oldest towns in South Africa, where time permitting we take a late afternoon walk to some of the nearby Bushmen rock paintings. Overnight at Ndedema Lodge (Clanwilliam). situated in historic Park Street with its picturesque 1820 settler houses. The lodge has four en suite bedrooms each decorated with antiques in period style and a spacious bathroom. Great attention to detail is noticeable with bathrobes for guests, complimentary sherry, pamper boxes and fresh flowers in the rooms.

Day 3 : Ancient Bushmen Rock Art, Meisbosskerm and Bird Island. 1 night Draaihoek Lodge, Elands Bay
This morning we enjoy a 4x4 nature drive on Elandsberg farm in the Cedarberg area where we learn about Rooibos tea production and enjoy stunning fynbos vegetation, and spring flowers in season. We continue to Lamberts Bay, a traditional West Coast fishing village, for a seafood lunch and afterwards we visit Bird Island before continuing to Draaihoek Lodge on the wild Atlantic Ocean.

Day 4 : Optional game drive and return to Cape Town via the West Coast
This morning, you have a chance to enjoy an optional game drive before meandering south along the West Coast visiting the picturesque fishing village of Paternoster for lunch. We continue via Langebaan and the West Coast National Park to Cape Town arriving late afternoon.
