Day 1 : Depart Cape Town, 1 night, Roggeland Country House, Paarl You are collected from your Cape Town hotel and taken to the Winelands, an area of exquisite beauty with rocky mountains overlooking green vineyards. Oak avenues lead to elegant Cape Dutch wine estates and some of the most charming towns and villages in South Africa. The main pleasure of this region is the enjoyment of the good life: appreciating the wine and the unique architecture; savouring long, lazy meals at one of the many excellent restaurants; browsing in the craft studios and art galleries or taking scenic drives through the surrounding 'kloofs'.
Your first stop is historic Vergelegen wine estate. A tour of the state- of-the-art wine cellars and Vergelegen homestead is followed by wine tasting here and at a couple of smaller, intimate wine estates, sampling Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay amongst others. Continue to Stellenbosch for a walking tour. Stellenbosch is a historic university city with charming Cape Dutch streets, shady oaks, and water furrows. Stay overnight at Roggeland Country House, one of our favourites, a restored Cape Dutch homestead in a tranquil setting. It has both the architectural character and the warm ambience of a small country hotel, with strong emphasis placed on their acclaimed regional cuisine accompanied by carefully selected Cape wines. Each of the 11 spacious en suite rooms has its own unique character. All have handmade linen and duck down duvets, polished wooden floors, ?riempie? reed ceilings and deep casement windows with wooden shutters.

Day 2 : Tour of Franschhoek & Boschendal This morning we visit Boschendal Manor, a fine early example of Cape Dutch architecture. Sit under the majestic oak trees and sample their wines before meandering to the Huguenot settlement of Franschhoek, brimming with ?joie de vivre?, quaint shops and rural charm.. En route, our guide takes you off the tourist beat to some of South Africa?s finest wine estates, known for their Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon. After a lazy lunch soaking up the glorious views, explore the art galleries and shops of Franschhoek before ending the tour with champagne on Paarl Rock, the granite domes above the lovely old town of Paarl which glisten in the sun like pearls giving the town its name. We return to Cape Town in the early evening.
