Day 1 : Depart Maun for 2 nights Jack’s Camp, Makgadikgadi Pans, Fully Inclusive On arrival in Maun, you are met and transferred by light aircraft to Jack’s Camp in the Makgadikgadi Pans. Two vast shallow pans and a number of smaller pans make up an extraordinary landscape covering 12,000 square kilometres. Jacks Camp is an authentic evocation of a classic 1940’s safari camp. Eight tents, complete with Persian carpets, canvas washbasins, paraffin lamps, even a wind-up gramophone, are idyllically set on a palm covered island in the vast golden grasslands. It offer a traditional safari experience - there is no electricity or running water - but en suite bucket showers and loos behind each tent. Jack’s offers a holistic understanding of Botswana’s wildlife, geography, geology and its people, both past and present.

Day 2 : On safari at Jack's Camp The salt pans are the legacy of a great lake, larger than Lake Victoria, which covered most of Southern Botswana about two million years ago. This is a magical place away from all people. You explore the pan by quad bike, visit majestic baobab trees and take fascinating walks with skilled Bushman trackers, where you learn about survival and tracking techniques and perhaps observe the desert-adapted wildlife of gemsbok, suricate and rare brown hyena. With the summer rains, the pans partially fill with water and attract spectacular birdlife including pelicans, cranes and flamingos - a majestic spectacle. The surrounding sweet summer grasses offer a seasonal home to thousands of free-roaming zebra and wildebeest.

Day 3 : Return to Maun After a final morning activity, followed by brunch, you are transferred to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight back to Maun.
