Day 1 : 1 night Lake Victoria Hotel. Transfer to the lakeshore.
Day 2 : 1 night Lake Mburo Tented Camp. Depart for Lake Mburo National Park, about 5 hours drive.
Day 3 : 2 nights Buhoma Lodge or Gorilla's Nest. This is a fairly long day in the vehicle, passing through farmland and lush green hills. Climb to the mountainous Uganda Highlands, the 'Switzerland of Africa', with great views and vistas. Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, or to Kisoro then on to Ruhengeri, Parc National des Volcans, for your gorilla tracking base - depending on where pre-purchased permits are held.
Day 4 : Gorilla Trekking Up early for a good breakfast before starting out through the bush on the track of gorillas. A sturdy pair of boots is a blessing as you follow the park rangers and guides through the undergrowth. With luck you'll be able to sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other. In the afternoon there may even be time for another walk.
Day 5 : At Bwindi or Mgahinga A second opportunity to go trekking, subject to availability of pre-purchased permits. Or take a community or forest walk with a local guide.
Day 6 : 2 nights Mweya or Jacana Lodge. To Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Day 7 : At Queen Elizabeth National Park Within the two days, take a boat cruise on the Kasinga Channel and an optional chimpanzee trek. Early morning and late afternoon game drives to search for unique wildlife such as the Giant Forest Hog, Red Forest Buffalo and Ugandan Kob. Lion, elephant and leopard are often seen.
Day 8 : 1 night Ngamba Island or Windsor Lake Victoria Morning drive out of the park, returning to Entebbe in time to take a boat to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee sanctuary. Here, orphaned chimpanzees have been relocated under the management of a group of dedicated conservationists including the Jane Goodall Institute. Option of overnighting on Ngamba Island in an 8 person luxury semi-permanent camp and taking a forest walk with the young chimps. Otherwise transfer back to Entebbe for a further night at Windsor Lake Victoria.
Day 9 : Transfer to Entebbe Airport Transfer to the airport for onward arrangements.
