Day 1 : 2 nights, Entabeni Game Reserve, Waterberg, Full board and Game Drives On arrival at the Johannesburg airport you collect your rental car and drive to the Waterberg region for your overnight stay at Entabeni Game Reserve at either Lakeside Lodge, Ravineside or Eagles Nest Lodge. Activities at Entabeni include twice-daily game drives in open game 4x4 vehicles, guided nature walks, horse riding, moonlit boma dinners, picnic lunches and bush sundowners. A visit to the Pedi cultural village can also be arranged. (3 hours, 270km)
Day 2 : 2 nights, Mashatu Tented Camp, Tuli Block, Full Board and Game Drives Head north to the Tuli Block for a two night safari at Mashatu. Mashatu is true Africa ? a wild and rugged landscape of savannah, open plains, sandstone outcrops and riverine forests. Mashatu offers some exceptional game viewing with a strong chance of seeing large herds of elephant and many of the predators such as lion or cheetah. You may also like to explore some of the ancient ruins, reminiscent of Great Zimbabwe. The wildlife experience is personal at Mashatu with dedicated and experienced Tswana rangers and trackers keen to show you their world. Game drives typically take place in the early morning and late afternoon when animals are most active. Mashatu Tented Camp is an exclusive and intimate camp of seven twin tents. This idyllic camp is rustic but comfortable, with good beds, en suite facilities, a boma for evening dining and a plunge pool to cool off in during the day. (3-4 hours, 315km)
Day 4 : 2 nights, The Coach House, Tzaneen, Bed and Breakfast Continue east to the beautiful Tzaneen area through fertile countryside covered with the tea and citrus plantations. Spend two nights at The Coach House, a small luxurious hotel set on the top of a mountainous plateau with stunning views of the plains and distant Drakensberg escarpment. It also boasts a superb Spa and Wellness Centre. (3 hours, 280km)
Day 6 : 2 nights, The Outpost Game Lodge, Kruger National Park, Full Board and Game Activities Head north-east to The Outpost for 2 nights, a private game lodge in the Kruger. The Outpost was the first private concession in the Kruger Park and lies in the far northern section. It's accessible from the south, through the park, from Tzaneen or by air from Johannesburg. The Outpost's stylish contemporary architecture is surrounded by the bushveld. The lodge is set on a ridge and has panoramic views over this most beautiful part of the Kruger. This overwhelming sense of space is very effectively echoed by the minimalist approach of the lodge. The twelve rooms or 'spaces' are just that ? huge elevated suites with three walls and one side completely open to the bush with no walls or glass windows to constrict you. Activities include game drives, nature walks at times suitable to guests and full day excursions with picnic lunches. (3 hours, 255km).
Day 8 : Return Car at Phalaborwa Airport Today you meander south through the Kruger Park game-viewing en route to Phalaborwa Airport where you drop your rental car (5+ hours, 235km). From here you can fly back to Johannesburg or stay at another private game lodge or country lodge nearby.
