Day 1 : Depart Johannesburg for 7 nights, Fort Jameson, Mashatu Game Reserve
You fly up to Mashatu in the Tuli Block using a scheduled safari flight in the morning. On arrival you and met and transferred through the reserve to the comfortable Fort Jameson which will be your home for the next 8 days. After a brief siesta you mount up for a brief introductory ride when the guides can assess your riding ability and match riders with horses.

Day 2 : Horse-riding safari at Mashatu
Mashatu lends itself to horse safaris. It is home to large herds of elephant and prides of lion and cheetah. Along the river courses, huge riverine trees provide shade for eland, impala, wildebeest, giraffe and zebra, whilst at night the bat-eared fox, African wild cat and leopard search for prey. The terrain of Mashatu is open savannah dotted with baobab trees. Fort Jameson's accommodation is double safari tents with en suite facilities offering hot water showers and flushing toilets. The tents are insect proofed with comfortable single beds, lighting and fans.

Day 3 : On safari
During your safari, days are spent in the saddle viewing game that are largely unaffected by your presence. Approach herds of antelope to within a few metres or gingerly circumvent herds of elephant up to 200 in number. If you encounter lion, leopard or cheetah, your guide will endeavour to ensure that this is done with the utmost safety in mind. He carries a rifle with him (though its not been needed to date). Later in the evening, Joyce's bush cuisine is enjoyed around a roaring log fire beneath a million stars before you retire to the comfort of your beds with the horses safely tethered within the fort.

Day 6 : Return to Johannesburg
This morning you are transferred back to the airstrip in time for your flight back to Johannesburg.
