This fly-in safari takes in three areas where there are good populations of resident game all year round; northern Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater and the north-east Serengeti National Park.
For much of the year, too, you will also be able to witness the ceaseless movements of big game animals as they roam across the African plains. Wildebeest, zebra and buffalo move into Tarangire during the dry season from June to October and the very end of the dry season is a great time to be in Tarangire's marvellous landscape of giant baobabs.
Enormous herds of game pass right by the Migration Camp area of the Serengeti on their way south from the Masai Mara in late October to November and again on the march northwards in July. This area is a treat and yet most of the visitors to the Serengeti don't make it this far, so you can enjoy the spectacle in virtual isolation.
The Ngorongoro Crater needs no explanation. Staying at the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is a celebration of the munificence of nature, reflected in the glorious excesses of the lodge. Does such a lavish environment detract from the wildlife or the view? Not a chance!
