Mashatu is excellent, affordable Botswana game viewing amid 75,000 acres of true wilderness. It has fantastic leopard viewing on a par with other notable areas for leopard, such as the Sabi Sand, Mombo and Zambia's South Luangwa. Guests can also spend time with specialist elephant and predator research scientist guides (at extra cost). Mashatu is accessed via a one hour flight from Johannesburg to Polokwane (Pietesburg), then a 40 minute charter from Polokwane to Mashatu. Otherwise, it is a five hour self-drive which can be broken with a stay in the Waterberg game viewing region or in Tzaneen in Limpopo.
