Waterberg Safari

Today you are transferred from the Johannesburg Airport to the Waterberg region.

This malaria-free safari region offers a dramatic landscape of vast plains, dense bushveld, winding rivers, deep gorges and soaring mountains. You enjoy open-vehicle game drives with an experienced ranger to give you a deeper understanding of the wildlife and the natural cycles of the bush. Their bush knowledge, practical skills and love of nature promise you informative, exciting and rewarding encounters with the wildlife.

On arrival you settle into your room and then take afternoon tea before setting off on your game drive. As the sun sets, the afternoon drive becomes a night safari following nocturnal animals as they begin to hunt.

Choice of Lodges:

Entabeni Hanglip Mountain Lodge is one of the most exclusive and luxurious of the five lodges on the Entabeni Private Game Reserve. It offers unspoilt African bushveld ranging from rocky outcrops, where the leopards watch from hidden crevices, to wide open savannah where the herds of zebra, wildebeest and impala congregate. Hanglip Lodge is probably our favourite at Entabeni. Its breathtaking setting offers views stretching over the lake and plains to the Hanglip Mountain beyond. All the ten suites are luxuriously furnished in a sumptuous African 'Baroque' style, with large wooden doors leading out to your private sun decks.

Mhondoro Lodge is situated in the beautiful Welgevonden Private Game Reserve about 3 hours drive from Johannesburg. The diverse reserve of Welgevonden offers unspoilt African bushveld ranging from rocky outcrops, where the leopards watch from their hidden crevices, to wide open savannah where the herds of zebra, wildebeest and impala congregate.

Marataba Safari Camp embraces both the contemporary and the ancient in an exciting union of innovative architecture and design. Inside the vibrant colours of Africa are to be seen everywhere. The 15 luxurious canvas and stone suites are reminiscent of Bedouin tents. Each has an open plan en-suite bathroom with shower and signature oval bath with open glass doors to the deck.
Full Board & Game Activities

Game drives are in the early morning and late afternoon when game is most likely to be active. You enjoy a game drive immediately after early morning tea and coffee, as the animals rise early to hunt in the cool of the day. The three hour drive finishes in time for a late breakfast, which will be keenly appreciated after your early morning start! After breakfast, you can go on an optional guided walk into the bush with a ranger, or you can simply relax around the lodge during the heat of the day.

The pattern for the rest of the day is similar to the day before with lunch and a late afternoon game drive followed by a night drive.

After a last early morning game drive and breakfast, you are transferred back to the gate where you meet our representative who will drive you back to Johannesburg.
