Thanda Private Game Reserve is situated in northern Maputaland on 6,000ha of Big Five bushveld and comprises Thanda Main lodge, Thanda Tented camp and a superb wellness centre. As well as 4x4 game drives and bush walks at Thanda, you also have the opportunity to learn more about the Zulu people, their history and traditions by visiting Vula Zulu, a traditional homestead which is a platform for African theatre.

Thanda Main Lodge is the epitome of luxury and romance - probably the most luxurious and romantic game lodge in KwaZulu Natal. Modern African arts and crafts have been incorporated into the décor in an imaginative and trend-setting way. Each of the nine enormous luxury bush villas has their own plunge pool, large sun deck with a sala for those all-important afternoon siestas, sitting room, fireplace, spacious indulgent bathroom and indoor and outdoor showers. The main lodge is beautifully decorated and cascades over several levels with views to the open bushveld. It encompasses a superb Wellness Centre which offers a variety of therapies to ease life's daily stresses as well as its own swimming pool.

Thanda Tented Camp does not compromise on luxury or service either. Perched on a hill, it offers four spacious and well-appointed tents, decorated in a colonial style with lots of teak furniture and campaign chairs. There's a particularly charming outdoor sitting area on a raised platform with glorious panoramic bush views. Here there’s a small plunge pool to cool off on warm sub-tropical days.
