The Observation car onboard Rovos Rail allows you to watch the unfolding scenery of the great interior of South Africa from a fascinating perspective.

Your accommodation on Rovos Rail is in air-conditioned suites with exquisite wood panelling and period Edwardian features. Rovos Rail's Pullman Suites have a sofa which converts to a bed in the evening; Deluxe suites have a lounge area and en suite shower room. Royal suites have full en suite bathrooms with Victorian bath and shower. All the suites are equipped with a writing desk, a personal safe and a minibar filled with the drinks of your choice. The bathrooms combine original fittings with the modern technology of hot showers, hair dryers and shaver plugs. 24 hour room service is available throughout the Rovos Rail train.

The Rovos Rail's 1600km route follows an old pioneering trail carved out of the African bushveld, passing through the Great Karoo, the Hex River Valley and the Cape Winelands. En route on Rovos Rail, in both directions, you take a tour of Kimberley, home of the famous Big Hole - the world's largest man-made excavation - and also visit the historic Karoo village of Matjiesfontein.

If travelling from Cape Town to Pretoria with Rovos Rail, you arrive in Pretoria at noon. If travelling from Pretoria to Cape Town, you arrive in Cape Town in the late afternoon.
