Because of its name I thought this 4 star boutique hotel might be a little formal as in the Victorian era, but I was pleasantly surprised! From the moment we stepped into the reception area, we were made to feel welcome. They have an informal, warm approach to hospitality. The furniture is handmade Victorian-style with the old and new are blended harmoniously together. The staff are friendly and it’s obvious they like working there.

There are 9 rooms: the 3 luxury rooms are on the first floor and are very spacious with their own balcony with views of the Langeberg mountains. They take children from 10 years and up, so an extra bed can be put in here if necessary. The 3 deluxe suites are facing the courtyard, swimming pool and the Koo mountains. The 3 standard rooms (Muscadel suites) are on the ground floor overlooking the courtyard pool. There are airconditioners (warm & cold), tea/coffee facilities with real coffee and cafetieres and DSTV in all  rooms.
 
The restaurant specialises in South African traditional food such as bobotie and the portions are not small at all! If you want to, they can also serve dinner on your balcony outside your room. The Hotel also has a wine bar which is a convivial 20 seater pub with a solid handcrafted counter. We watched the Bulls (South African team) win the Super 14 (rugby tournament) here while drinking a glass of muscadel. Fantastic atmosphere!
