Schulphoek Seafront Guest House in Hermanus is situated in a beautiful protected sanctuary right on the edge of the sea, with spectacular sea views from the sitting room and terrace. Southern Right whales come right into the bay to breed from July to November. A coastal walking trail runs past the lodge for you to enjoy the whales even more.
Six spacious bedrooms in the garden at Schulphoek Guest House are each individually decorated. One bedroom, the Scallop Suite is situated on the entire first floor and offers magnificent sea views from huge windows which run the length of the room. The Limpet room also a favourite for all romantics. Each room at Schulphoek has solid hand-crafted wooden beds, percale cotton linen, overhead fans, wall heaters, safe, sitting area, TV/video and tea/coffee facilities and the bathrooms are modern with bath and shower, many with spa baths.

The atmosphere at Schulphoek Guest House is relaxed, warm and inviting with an emphasis on good quality cuisine. Offering a four-course menu du jour with delectable seafood and venison dishes, herbs and vegetables picked from the potager. You can watch the chef Rachel prepare the dinner in the state of the art interactive kitchen at Schulphoek Seafront Guest House. Everyone usually eats around one long table which makes for a convivial social atmosphere. Your hosts, Petro and Mannes, get to know everyone and join you for. Another nice touch is that a complimentary dinner is offered to all guests who stay two nights or more at Schulphoek Guest House, usually on the first night, and drinks are on an honesty system so you just help yourself when you feel like it. Schulphoek is also known by wine enthusiasts: there's over 10,000 bottles of wine in their private cellar and Mannes often does impromptu wine tasting if you're keen on wine.

An outdoor salt water pool in the garden, and the summer house nearby has a treatment room where reflexology and shiatsu treatments are offered by appointment. Schulphoek Guest House is situated in the quiet Sand Bay area of Hermanus just 5-10 minutes drive from the busy town centre with its choice of restaurants, and also well situated to visit the wine estates in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.

Children are welcome by prior arrangement. The Seahorse family suite has a small second bedroom which is ideal for a child. Otherwise, children take their own rooms adjacent to their parents.
