Ngala Tented Camp lies in the southern part of the Timbavati Game Reserve bordering the Kruger National Park. In fact Ngala Tented Camp lies only 3km from the Kruger. Meaning 'Lion' in the Shangaan language, Ngala is home to several prides of these majestic cats as well as large herds of elephant. Cheetah and wild dog also regularly move through the
14,700ha reserve. The Ngala game reserve mainly comprises bush savanna however it also boasts beautiful mopane trees interspersed with marulas and stately leadwood trees.

Ngala Tented Camp is a sophisticated tented camp with six deluxe tents on raised platforms with secluded wooden decks. It lies under a cool canopy of indigenous trees and overlooks the seasonal Timbavati river. Each spacious tented room at Ngala has an invigorating outdoor shower as well as a bath mounted on a rough-hewn wood base. Other facilities include an overhead fan, air-conditioning and electric blankets for winter. The tents actually have wooden sides with gauze screen windows so that delicate breezes from the bushveld will keep you cool. Ngala Tented Camp has a very light eco-footprint as existing trees were cleverly incorporated into the design.

Surrounded by a timber deck, the lap pool merges with the contours of the river bank and offers the perfect place to relax in the heat of the day and even do a spot of indolent game-viewing from the comfort of your sun lounger.

Dining at Ngala Tented Camp is always an event with lunch offered at the pool or on the viewing decks whilst al fresco dinners in the dry riverbed are quite magical. Renowned for its exceptional Big Five game viewing, Ngala offers exhilarating twice-daily game drives in 4x4 safari vehicles and interpretive bush walking safaris. This is complemented by the nearby hide for bird-watching and photography, star-gazing, moonlit riverbed dinners and bush sundowners.

Various specialist safaris are offered at Ngala at an additional cost. These are guided by specialist rangers and have exclusive use of a 4x4 safari vehicle.
- Leopards@Ngala offers the chance to observe Ngala's famous leopards staying out all night if necessary. You have the opportunity to capture these magnificent animals on film.
- Tracking@Ngala teaches you the art of tracking wildlife on foot accompanied by your specialist ranger.
- PhotographicSafaris@Ngala focuses on fulfilling your specific photographic wishlist with a range who specializes in wildlife photography.
- Walking@Ngala offers a tailormade walking safari staying at Ngala's own walking bushcamp. Whilst you may encounter big game or track a rhino on foot, the focus here is on understanding the bush's eco-system and the symbiotic relationships between animals and their environment.

You can fly into Hoedspruit airport and take a road transfer (approx 50 mins) or fly into Ngala's airstrip and have a game-viewing transfer across the reserve of approx 45 mins.
