Mala Mala Camp lies in the northern part of Mala Mala which is in turn part of the world-class Sabi Sands game reserve. Simply stated, Mala Mala offers some of the best game-viewing in Africa. Mala Mala is particularly known for its big cat sightings at close range. The open boundary provides unimpeded access to Kruger's wildlife, which are attracted by Mala Mala's vast array of habitat types - ranging from open savannah to dense riparian zones and granite kopjes. Activities range from 4x4 game drives to walking safaris and may include sumptuous bush breakfasts, picnic lunches and sundowners as the sun sets behind the dusty horizon. Game activities are led by highly qualified rangers, most of whom have university degrees in the natural sciences. As well as being thoroughly conversant with all aspects of bushveld ecology, they are also chosen for their ability to communicate this knowledge. To optimise your game viewing experience, Shangaan trackers collaborate closely with their rangers. These Shangaan trackers have a fabled understanding of the bushveld passed down through the ages by their fathers and their fathers' fathers.

Mala Mala Camp is the original lodge on Mala Mala reserve and remains a traditional safari camp with a long history of providing a top quality safari experience. The ochre-coloured buildings of Mala Mala Camp are set in manicured lawns under large shady trees. Each of the 18 air-conditioned thatched rooms and suites enjoys views of the surrounding bush and are equipped with his and her en-suite bathrooms, insect proof screens, telephone, minibar and large twin beds.

The accommodation is very traditional - you are not coming to Mala Mala Camp for the latest décor trends, though you will be very comfortable. Indeed it is this authentic bushcamp atmosphere which sets Mala Mala Camp somewhat apart from many other game lodges. The main lodge has a lot of history, captured in the furnishings, old photos and pictures. The spacious Buffalo Lounge leads onto an expansive wooden deck, which provides an elevated view of animals watering in the Sand River.

Dinner, announced by the beating of African drums, is a festive affair, served under the stars in the traditional reed boma in grand old African manner. The delectable bush cuisine, including venison specialities and outstanding South African wines, is all part and parcel of the Mala Mala experience.

Mala Mala Camp accepts children and children from 5 years upwards are allowed to go on the game drive and to have dinner in the boma. Children can share a room with parents but they also have a number of two bedroom suites which share a sitting area. This is ideal for couples travelling together or families with up to 3 children. On arrival children are given a Mala Mala back pack with special activity book relating to the reserve so that they can get the most from their bush experience.

Mala Mala Camp has a suite for the physically impaired, complete with a fully functional bathroom with wheel-in shower. The safari vehicle used is equipped to comfortably and accommodate disabled guests on game drives.
