Woodall Country House has undergone a major transformation in the last few years, and really made the most of their less expansive setting. They now offer the best appointed rooms, really smart accommodation in a more contemporary/African way as opposed to the very English style of nearby Elephant House. Their suites have proved so popular that they are extended two of their standard rooms to have 7 suites and 4 rooms. Given the relatively small price difference, I would say it is definitely worth the increase to stay in the suites at Woodall as they are very smart. Woodall offers excellent spacious family accommodation with sofa beds or sometimes a separate annex room for children. One suite (number 11) has its own courtyard garden with small swimming pool, however all the suites have something special.

The restaurant, overlooking the dam, has been extended to provide a large covered sitting area which is backed by a sitting room and a library/reading room. This means that they are making the most of their attractive dam setting.  Their spa has proved popular with three treatment rooms and a new gym is set slightly apart from the accommodation (given noise of running machines).

Woodall Country House offers a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it. Everything about it says quality and style. The rooms are minimalist but spacious with a magnificent setting amongst the reeds and surrounding dams. The bathrooms and the showers are especially nice. The cottages have totally private little gardens overlooking a dam teeming with birdlife. The privacy makes it feel as if you are the only person there and so Woodall would be ideal for honeymooners.

The dining area and lounge is also something special with a wooden deck overlooking yet another dam with abundant birdlife. The food is exceptional to say the least and a definite must visit for culinary buffs visiting the Eastern Cape. Woodall offers something to everyone from foodies and honeymooners to birdlife enthusiasts. I particularly feel that people interested in birding will be in a seventh heaven at Woodall.

PS. I was also very impressed with the spa & gym facilities at Woodall
