Woodall Country House and Spa is an idyllic five star country house hotel in the Eastern Cape, only minutes from the Addo Elephant National Park. Woodall offers you peace, tranquillity and good food and is situated on a working citrus farm. Woodall's famous restaurant at the water's edge of a pretty dam, serves lots of South African dishes with fresh farm ingredients. This waterside area has been extended to include a large covered outdoor sitting area which is backed by two indoor rooms - a lounge and a library. Woodall has four Cape-style luxury cottages and seven more modern suites all have private patios or sundecks for enjoying the fresh air, as well as air-conditioning, ceiling fan, separate bath and shower, outside shower, minibar, hifi, telephone, bathrobes and tea/coffee facilities. Given the relatively small difference in price, we would definitely recommend treating yourselves to a suite.

There's also a very popular rejuvenating health and beauty spa with three treatment rooms, a good range of pampering treatments on offer, as well as a chill out room, sauna, and a well equipped gym set slightly apart from the accommodation to ensure complete peace whilst in your room. Woodall offers daily game drives into Addo Elephant Park in Woodall's luxury open top game-viewing vehicle are also on offer either in the morning or afternoon. The Addo Elephant National Park was proclaimed in 1931 and today it is home to over 400 elephants, making it the densest elephant population in Africa. Thus your chances of close-one elephant viewing is some of the best in the world. As well as elephants there are also lion, hyena, black rhino, buffalo and various antelope species - not to mention the flightless dung beetle! Other options include horse-riding or hiking in the Zuurberg Mountains or in Addo itself, canoeing or exploring the Settler towns of Grahamstown and Bathurst.

A number of the suites at Woodall Country House are suitable for families with enough space for sofa beds or sometimes a separate annex room for children. We particularly recommend either the new African suites or Suite number 11 which has its own private courtyard garden and small swimming pool.
