So shy and elusive are gorillas, that the world has only really known of their existence for little more than a century. The most misunderstood of Africa's Great Apes is far from being a fearsome King Kong. Rather, the gorilla is a gentle, agile, beautiful animal with whom it is a priviledge to spend time.

Their forest habitat is a treat in its own right, rich in birds and with a huge diversity of habitats. But the increasing demand for land for subsistence farming creates a huge pressure on this dwindling and fragile patch of wilderness. Your visit may give you memories for a lifetime but the effect could be far more long-lasting. The money you spend helps to reduce the conflict between beleagered locals and threatened wildlife.
