Cedarberg, South Africa

Tours & Lodges in the Cedarberg Mountains & Cape West Coast

The Cedarberg Mountains lie approx two hours drive north of Cape Town. Once over the Piekenierskloof pass, you descend into a different world. The country has changed: wilder, warmer with a raw, dramatic beauty. The towering Cederberg mountains, brilliant purple in the late afternoon light, preside over a fruit-filled valley laden with the scent of orange blossom in the spring.

The Cedarberg is our home so we have an expert knowledge of the Cedarberg & West Coast lodges and tours available from self drive tours and walking holidays to private rock art tours and spring wild flower tours.

Take a fascinating journey to the picturesque mission village of Wupperthal deep in the Cederberg, or follow a walking trail to some ancient rock paintings. Enjoy hiking in the Cederberg Wilderness Reserve, swimming in waterfall rock pools or simply relaxing in one of the most beautiful and peaceful areas of South Africa.

En route you may like to visit the Cape West Coast, with its unique sandveld vegetation, picturesque fishing villages, long sandy beaches and immense bird colonies. Its relaxed hospitality is typified by the outdoor seafood restaurants on the beach. Adventure-seekers will enjoy quad biking on the sand dunes and whale-watching boat cruises. The West Coast lies approx 1 hour’s drive north of Cape Town.

Note: Cedarberg or Cederberg - Name Confusion
There are two spellings of this region in common usage. The English name is Cedarberg but more recently many people including Cape Nature Conservation, have combined the English and Afrikaans spelling (Sederberg) into Cederberg, which is why you will see it spelt in both ways and why we’ve used both names here!
