Ongava Tented Camp lies within Ongava Game Reserve, a private 30,000ha game reserve on the southern boundary of Etosha National Park. Ongava has three completely different camps to choose from - the authentic tented camp, the larger hillside Ongava Lodge and the ultra-luxurious Little Ongava, with a price tag to match.

Ongava Tented Camp is a small authentic safari camp where you sleep in traditional East African or 'Meru' tents. The camp is situated towards the centre of the game reserve, at the base of some mountains. Ongava Tented Camp's bar and dining area is built out of rock and thatch and has an intimate friendly ambience. Drinks and dinner can be enjoyed around the camp fire and there's a welcome swimming pool overlooking the camp's popular floodlit waterhole. The waterhole attracts a variety of animals and birds of Namibia and is especially interesting in the evenings when flood lights illuminate the area. This is quite a wild area and so animals frequently walk close to the camp.

Each of Ongava Tented Camp's nine tents has double doors to allow for uninterrupted views of the bush and productive waterhole in front of the camp. Every tent has been tastefully furnished with its own en suite thatched bathroom with flush toilet and unique open air private shower. Your private covered veranda offers spectacular views over the Namibian wilderness and is perfect for evening sundowners.

Activities at Ongava Tented Camp include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles into Etosha, as well as night drives and nature walks in their private game reserve. With its resident white and black rhino, rhino tracking on foot is one of the most popular activities at Ongava. You also have the chance to see elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and the plains species. Keen birders may see various species from a pygmy falcon to some of Namibia's endemic species such as Hartlaub's francolin, the bare-cheeked babbler or Ruppel's parrot.
