Inhambane, Mozambique

Inhambane is one of the most picturesque provinces of southern Mozambique, with pristine beaches for snorkelling in the warm Indian Ocean. Inhambane lies between Maputo in the far south of Mozambique and Vilanculos further to the north.

Tofu and Barra are particularly good choices for scuba diving with a choice of reefs. Here encounters with the beautiful Manta rays are almost guaranteed. In winter time you may also hear the haunting song of the humpback whales when they come into the coast to breed, an awesome sighting on a snorkelling or diving trip.

Travelling to Inhambane

Most of our guests fly into Inhambane from Johannesburg and then transfer to their beach resort but it is also possible, for more adventurous clients, to drive up the coast of Mozambique to Inhambane. This allows you to combine a few days on the beach at Barra or Tofu with exploring the colonial city of Maputo and perhaps driving through the newly created Mozambique Peace Park to the heart of the Kruger National Park. To make the driving more relaxing we recommend that you spend a night or two en route either in Maputo or near Xai Xai.
