Luxury for Less at Marlin Lodge
Children welcome at 50% of the adult price from 11th Dec 2009 to 31st January 2010

Marlin Lodge is a luxurious African beach lodge on the south-west of Benguerra Island off Mozambique. Marlin is not a resort but rather offers a more exclusive 'barefoot luxury' experience with stylish accommodation, powder white beaches and mouth-watering food – ideal for honeymoons and indeed all couples.

Location - Marlin lies on a magnificent protected beach within the Benguerra Island Marine National Park, facing west towards the mainland of Mozambique and the setting sun.

Accommodation
Marlin Lodge offers just 14 thatched beach chalets and 3 executive suites, built on wooden stilts, each with four poster beds and beautiful furniture, en suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, mosquito nets & private decks overlooking Flamingo Bay with a path to the beach.  They are all very spacious and Wooden walkways connect the chalets to the main areas, preserving local plant life. The chalets and suites were all rebuilt to luxurious standard after the devastating cyclone in 2007.

The spacious Beach Chalets are decorated with a hue of creams, browns and light blues. Glass sliding doors lead out to a private deck with hammock and deck chairs. Behind the bed is the open plan bathroom with large shower, double basins, enclosed loo and a door out to an enclosed courtyard with an alfresco shower.

The Executive Suites are even larger with four poster king sized beds. The ceilings are higher and the colours are warmer, These rooms are air-conditioned but have no ceiling fans.

The main lodge offers numerous lounging areas, a cocktail bar where you can retreat from the sun for cocktails, or lazily catch up on some reading in the reading lodge. The wooden deck wraps around the lodge and there’s an alfresco dining area. The attractive freshwater pool is set in a glade of coconut and Ilala palms. The pool is ideal for use during low tide as there is a dramatic tidal range on Benguerra Island and at low tide, the sea can be a long walk from the lodge across kilometres of sand!

Activities
A range of water sports is on offer at Marlin including diving, snorkelling, water-skiing, and some of the best deep-sea and saltwater fishing off Mozambique. The usual beach activities such as windsurfing, ocean ski paddling, catamaran sailing & power kite flying are also available on a complimentary basis. There is a fully-equipped dive centre and a PADI dive instructor at Marlin Lodge. Diving, reef snorkelling, deep sea fishing, as well as other motorised water sports (water skiing, wake boarding, knee boarding) and boat cruises to the Pansy islands are available at extra cost. Stays of 1-3 nights also include a dhow sail boat sunset cruise, 4-5 nights also include an island tour and stays of 6-9 nights also include a snorkeling trip to 2 Mile Reef, one of Mozambique’s top snorkeling spots, to view the colourful array of tropical fish.

There’s also a small beauty &wellness centre for a change from all the water activities.

Dining at Marlin Lodge
Dine alfresco under lantern-lit trees and enjoy mesmerizing sunsets over the beach. A blend of Afro-Asian and Portuguese cuisine is served at Marlin Lodge either in the spacious open-deck dining room, on the beach under the African stars or as a private meal for honeymooners on your deck or on the beach.

How to get there - There are direct flights to Vilanculos from both Johannesburg and the Kruger Park. From there you take the boat transfer or fly onto Marlin Lodge on Benguerra Island.
