Kicheche Laikipia Camp lies in the centre of Ol Pejeta Conservancy's 90,000 acres of malaria-free Kenya wilderness in the high Laikipia region. This is the must-do destination for safari lovers in search of quality game-viewing without the crowds. This game reserve is set on the Equator with wonderful views of Mount Kenya, yet it is easily reached by air (30 mins from nearby Nanyuki airstrip) or by road (3 hours) from the capital of Kenya, Nairobi.

Guests at Kicheche Laikipia can explore this private environment both on foot with an expert guide, or by 4 x 4 on day and night drives. Ol Pejeta is home to Kenya's largest population of Black Rhino, large numbers of elephant, cheetah, lion, leopard and plentiful plains game. There are also a number of rarer Northern Kenya species such as Grevy's Zebra, Jackson's Hartebeest and Beisa Oryx. Night drives are a popular activity for those keen to spot the local nocturnal wildlife. The various conservation initiatives in operation near the camp allow you to get involved, if you wish, in radio tracking of the resident lion prides. Or you can visit the Jane Goodall chimpanzee sanctuary for orphaned chimps. This is an excellent way to observe the chimps and learn about the perils facing chimpanzees in the wild. Kicheche Laikipia Camp has just six luxurious tents nestled at the foot of indigenous forest overlooking a busy waterhole. The spacious tents are custom designed and are fully insect-proof with en-suite bathrooms equipped with a dresser, flushing toilet and hot showers. There are comfortable chairs on each shady veranda overlooking the waterhole. One tent can be converted into a family triple on request.

There is a spacious lounge and dining tent with open fireplaces for cool evenings, although dinner is generally alfresco if weather permits. You are hosted by the inimitable Andy and Sonja Webb.

This camp is perfect to combine with its sister camps, Kicheche Mara or Kicheche Bushcamp, in the Masai Mara National Park.
