South African Car Rental

It is pleasurable and easy to take a self-drive tour in South Africa and Namibia. Driving is on the left, the roads are empty and of excellent quality, and nearly all road-signs in English.

Self-drive is one of the most rewarding ways to explore Namibia’s contrasting landscapes and is very straightforward. What little rain that Namibia does receive is enjoyed during the summer months, from late November through to March. Although this is still an enjoyable time to visit, it can make self-drive arduous and a 4x4 will definitely be needed. Even at other times of year, the upgrade is generally worthwhile.

Self-Drive programmes featured here include a Group B car, with unlimited mileage, Super Collision Damage Waiver, Super Theft Loss Waiver and Personal Accident Insurance and free mobile phone rental. Petrol, fuel deposit and a small mobile phone insurance are payable locally. The minimum age is 23 years and there is no upper age limit.

Rates Exclude:

• Petrol deposit of R1000 (fully refundable if car is returned with full tank of petrol)
• Additional driver surcharge of R110
• Young driver surcharge of R100 per driver per day
• One way drop-off fee of R330 (or R500 if Garden Route to Cape Town; Johannesburg to Mpumalanga, KwaZulu Natal or Western Cape; Mpumalanga to Johannesburg)
• Delivery and collection fees of R110 within office hours, R220 after hours and weekends (up to 25km).
• Contract fee of R25 per rental
• Water and under-carriage damage to vehicles, windscreen, tyre and hubcaps.
