Mobile Camping in Botswana and Zimbabwe

Mobile safaris are a particularly evocative way of enjoying a safari in Botswana, Namibia or Zimbabwe.

These Mobile Camping Safaris take two forms:
1) You can join a scheduled departure of 6 to 12 people.

These vary in style from fully catered, through moderate participation to full participation (eg. helping with some chores) with a corresponding variation in price. Usually our mobile safaris are fully catered and on the more luxurious side. They feature tents with proper beds, linen, and usually (though not always) their own private bathroom facilities attached to the tent. These may include a bucket shower where hot water is brought to your tent on request.

More moderate mobile safaris will have tents with proper beds but perhaps shared bathroom facilities. The bathroom facilities will be alfresco with a toilet and a simple bucket shower. These usually start in Maun or Victoria Falls in the case of Botswana.

Given the Okavango Delta’s watery terrain, and Namibia’s distances, these upmarket mobile safaris often include some flying. But essentially you travel from area to area by 4×4 Landrover, staying a couple of nights in each area. The best mobile safaris will give you a true sense of the country as well as a superb game-viewing experiences. As you can imagine, they get booked up early as they are so popular!

2) Alternatively, you can choose a private mobile safari.

A private mobile safari offers greater flexibility on routing and departure date – and is ideal for a family party or a group of friends.

*Note on Overland Safaris:

More moderate still are the ‘Overland Safaris’ which do circular routes from South Africa. We don’t generally offer these as a rule as it’s not really ‘our market’. But very occasionally we suggest one of the more upmarket versions, especially if you are travelling alone and would like to travel with other people.
