Victoria Falls

The Zimbabwean side of the Victoria Falls offers some of the finest views of the falls and the little town of Victoria Falls remains safe and tranquil.

The Victoria Falls offers a dramatic scenic contrast and change of pace from the private game reserves. Certainly it is a sight not to be missed. Especially when the Zambezi river is in full flow (from March to June/July), when over a mile of unbroken surging water plunges into the Zambezi gorge below.

The Victoria Falls lies right on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Each country offers a different viewing perspective. Towards the end of the dry season from late September to January, the spectacle is best seen from the Zimbabwe side of the Falls as the Zambian side all but dries up.

A host of tours are centered on three separate delights: the Victoria Falls, the magnificent Zambezi River and its surrounding National Park.

Tours focused on the Falls and the Zambezi River

You can visit the Falls under your own steam or with a guide. It ‘s your choice. Nearby a variety of adventure activities are on offer such as bungee jumping, gorge swings, the flying fox and ziplining. To gain an overall impression of the Falls, the helicopter ‘Flight of Angels’ is essential. Microlight flights are an alternative for the truly daring. Another activity which is great for families is the Victoria Falls Canopy Tour. This is a network of slides, trails and rope bridges within the canopy of the Zambezi Gorge forest. Enjoy views to Victoria Falls bridge and to the rapids below.

The mighty Zambezi River itself has two characters. The wide gentle river above the Victoria Falls is the perfect place for languorous sunset boat cruises, game-viewing by canoe or exciting jet boat excursions. Whilst below the Falls, the more adventurous can enjoy the adrenalin rush of some serious white-water rafting.

Hotels in Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe side)

Victoria Falls offers a warm friendly welcome with a range of good value hotels for varying budgets. Generally you are choosing between town-based hotels within walking distance of all the attractions and lodges set in the bush. These typically offer complimentary transfers to the town during your stay. If you have time, we recommend one night right next to the Falls combined with 2 nights in the Zambezi National Park where you can continue your safari experience.
