Mozambique Holidays & Honeymoons offer white, palm-fringed beaches & coral reefs

Mozambique offers the ultimate in barefoot beach holiday luxury. With its white, palm-fringed beaches and coral reefs, the easy vibe of Mozambique appeals to all especially, honeymoon couples. It’s an exotic mix of different cultures. Along with Tanzania and Kenya to the north, Mozambique has long been an important staging post on the Arab trade routes so it has the same Swahili cultural and historical influences. The main tribal groups of Mozambique have assimilated Muslim, Indian and Chinese culture alongside traditional African values and customs. But its period of Portuguese administration has left Mozambique with a very different flavour from former British and German colonies, more relaxed and unhurried. Perhaps this is what has made Mozambique such a popular holiday and honeymoon destination?

Of course the best known asset of Mozambique is its fabulous Indian Ocean beaches. The mix of unspoilt beaches, turquoise Indian Ocean, world class scuba diving and delicious Portuguese seafood cuisine is an unbeatable combination. The tropical island retreats on Bazaruto and Benguerra islands and the Quirimbas Archipelago provide luxurious and tranquil surroundings, with great diving and snorkelling. The mainland resorts near Inhambane, Vilanculos and Pemba are also popular with keen divers and sports fishermen.

When & How to enjoy a Mozambique holiday
Mozambique is almost a year-round destination but January to February are typhoon season with strong winds.

There are daily flights from Johannesburg or the Kruger Park in South Africa to Vilanculos (for the Bazaruto and Benguerra Islands); daily flights to Pemba (for the Qurimbas islands), and frequent flights to Imhambane. Most of our Mozambique visitors combine some time on safari with a few days or a week relaxing on the beach in Mozambique.

Our more intrepid clients can also enjoy a self drive combining the Kruger National Park with some of the Southern Mozambique such as Maputo and Inhambane. See Gloria and Lee’s recent blog about their road trip through Mozambique. However this is not for the faint-hearted as the roads are not in great condition however you are able to appreciate the scenery and architecture as you drive.
