Sellwood Family Self Drive Holiday

Guy and Chris Sellwood had wanted to take their three children away on safari for several years but were worried how their active and sporty family would cope with long days of game-viewing, especially as their youngest, Maisie, was only seven at the time. Another concern was the authenticity of the experience as Guy wanted the kids too see the "real Africa" while Chris was more cautious about the dangers of the bush.

Cedarberg’s solution was a stay in a rustic bushcamp under canvas, deep in the Kruger National Park, followed by time spent in cosmopolitan and scenic Cape Town and the Cape Winelands and then walking and horseriding in the Cedarberg mountains. In the Kruger they stayed at Rhino Post Safari Lodge; in Cape Town they opted for a centrally location at the Waterfront and in the mountains they enjoyed biking, horse riding and lots of walking when based at Mount Ceder.

“We were amazed how you managed to pack so much variety into one holiday” said Guy “each member of the family was catered for”. The children were deeply awed by their guide, Africa, and loved learning how to track and identify animal trails, while Maisie simply pronounced “it was the best holiday ever!”
