Xigera Camp, (pronounced kee-je-ra), is in one of the most beautiful parts of the Okavango on Paradise Island, a private concession within the Moremi Game Reserve. It has permanent water year-round, yet there are lots of large islands in the area that hold good concentrations of animals, including the rare sitatunga and red lechwe, and wonderful waterbirds, eagles and kingfishers. This means that Xigera is the perfect land and water activity camp, with game drives, walking safaris, mekoro and boating trips for game-viewing and fishing on offer, though please note that the game drives are very limited at the peak flood time as it is completely surrounded by water at that point.

Nestled in a magnificent riverine forest, Xigera offers classic safari accommodation with tents elevated on wooden decks. These are stylish and comfortable, with fans, en suite facilities and an outdoor shower under the african stars. All offer a superb view of the seasonal floodplain and waterholes, and are linked by walkways to the main Xigera lodge.

The thatched lodge has a lounge, dining area, bar, viewing deck and plunge pool. You may be treated to close-up sightings of lion or leopard when using the footbridge connecting Xigera's islands. A sandpit records the tracks of nightly camp visitors, which often include leopard, lion and hyena.

Xigera is a particular delight for bird-watchers with pel's fishing owl, african skimmer, slaty egret, wattled crane and a host of eagles, vultures and kingfishers to be seen. The abundance of game includes red lechwe, antelope, lion, leopard and the highest density of the rare sitatunga antelope in the Okavango Delta.
