Overview

Tsara Komba lodge is a magical eco-lodge on the forested island of Nosy Komba, one of the most charming islands in the Nosy Be archipelago, colloquially known as ‘Lemur Island’. The lodge lies away from the village and lemur sanctuary in its own pristine nature reserve. Tsara Komba Lodge is an upmarket lodge with a rare and authentic charm, in perfect keeping with the pristine nature all around. It combines a stylish and exclusive ambience with a Slow Food cuisine ethos and excursions tailored around you.

The main lodge, perched at the top of the property, is home to the restaurant, bar and sitting areas. Four separate terraces allow you to admire the superb 280° view across the bay to the Tsaratanana Mountains on the mainland. The restaurant has a ‘slow food’ ethos so the best local produce is chosen according to the time of year with the added assurance of fair trade with local producers.

Each lodge’s private area begins with the terrace, a cosy and pleasant outdoor living room in an attractive natural setting. The attractive bedroom with superb view over the bay is the perfect place to relax. Each lodge has its own character, featuring a warm, elegant, and unique decorative scheme.

Activities on offer

Life at Tsara Komba Lodge is unbelievably relaxing. You can choose to do as much or as little as you want. Paths lead down to the magnificent beach where sun loungers are laid out on the golden sand or under the shade of the palm trees.

Water activities include scuba diving, for beginners or experienced divers, and snorkelling as well as fishing. You can tour the island by traditional pirogue (dug-out canoe) or take longer boat excursions to surrounding islands such as Nosy Tanikely, the Mitsio archipelago to see the Baie des Russes (Russian Bay) or Kisimany.

On land you can tire yourself out with beach volleyball, racketball, badminton or kite-flying. Nosy Komba is an amazing island to explore. It is actually a former volcano which is now covered by a primal forest. Stroll through their private nature reserve admiring the numerous species of flowers. Here, you may meet the mischievous black lemurs, the slow yet lively chameleons and of course extraordinarily beautiful birds and butterflies. Explore the nearby sandy coves or visit the local village where the women embroider tablecloths and the men produce wood-carvings.

The eight suites are all individually decorated in warm tones using traditional materials and wood. The furniture and decorative items have been obtained from Madagascan antique dealers, artists and craftsmen, resulting in a subtle combination of ethnic character with modern touches. Two of the chalets are more open and airy than the others with open-sided bathrooms and outdoor showers.
