Serengeti Migration Camp by Elewana

CEDARBERG RATING

Luxury

Overview

Serengeti Migration Camp is a most comfortable luxury tented camp overlooking the Grumeti River. It is located on the northern corridor on the main wildebeest migratory route between the northern Serengeti National Park and the Masai Mara. The camp is set amongst granite koppies and manages to offer style and luxury whilst retaining a natural affinity with the surrounding bush.

Accommodation

All 20 en suite tented suites are on raised platforms with sweeping river views from their verandas. They are enormous with king or twin beds, polished wooden floors, comfortable leather armchairs, coffee/tea facilities and writing tables and they are en-suite with showers and double vanities. The honeymoon suite is set in a secluded position with has an open-air spa bath screened by a wild fig tree. Serengeti Migration Camp also has a family tent which sleeps up to 6 people, comprising two tents which are set together to share a bathroom.

The lodge

The lodge is set on a rocky outcrop, known as Poacher's Lookout with beautiful views of the Ndasiata Hills and the Grumeti River. The dining area, bar and library at Serengeti Migration Camp are on a series of decks and have a slight colonial ambience with leather armchairs and bronze artefacts. The lodge is open to one side which allows both cooling afternoon and evening beezes and also ensures optimum game-viewing opportunities over the Serengeti plains, famous for its big predator sightings. The lodge has a delightful swimming pool and sundeck ideal for a sunset drinks or a refreshing dip. Alfresco picnic lunches and campfire barbecues are a speciality at Serengeti Migration Camp and guests often dine out under the stars with beautiful views of the Ndasiata Hills and the Grumeti River.

Game viewing at Serengeti Migration Camp

Game-viewing is probably at its peak here between July & August and again in November as the migration moves northwards through the area and then back again. Morning, afternoon or full day game drives are on offer. You can also enjoy guided game walks in the bush around the lodge. (This is a special concession for Serengeti Migration Camp as game walks are not normally permitted in the Serengeti National Park.) Hot air balloon safaris can now be arranged from the lodge and an experience not to be missed. (This needs to be booked in advanced).
