Porini Amboseli Camp

CEDARBERG RATING

Overview

Porini Amboseli Camp is set in the Amboseli eco-system within the exclusive Selenkay Conservancy - an important wildlife dispersal area for wildlife moving out of Amboseli National Park. The private conservation area ensures the best possible game viewing in purpose made off-road safari vehicles sufficiently off the beaten track and away from other safari visitors.

This is a lovely intimate little camp. It retains all the charm and feel of the traditional luxury safari camps of bygone times, but with much more comfortable bathroom arrangements than for  the big game hunters of earlier years! Facilities at Porini Amboseli Camp include ten spacious guest tents, comfortably furnished with solar power electric lighting and en suite bathrooms including shower, wash basin and flush toilet.

Activities

Game drives take place in both the Selenkay Conservancy and in the Amboseli National Park with full day game drives on offer, complete with a picnic lunch.

Activities at Amboseli Camp includes game drives, walks and night drives with sundowners. Game drives are in specially designed, open-sided off-road safari vehicles. These give a far better game viewing experience than travelling in a minibus with window seats and a pop top. The  Selenkay Conservation Area is a private game reserve so you will not see any other vehicles .

Porini Tent

Porini Amboseli Camp has just 10 guest tents. The tents are spacious and have private verandas along the length of the tent, providing a private space for you to relax and enjoy the beauty of this African wilderness. The tents are comfortable and unfussy, fitted with wooden furniture and beds with comfortable mattresses with cosy duvets and blankets and soft rugs on the vinyl floors. These are traditionally themed safari canvas tents large, bright (three of the four walls are made of mosquito screen) and comfortably functional – perfect for people who want a tented camp experience without frills.

Each tent contains a double and single bed with bedside tables with LED solar bed side lamps, torch, wardrobe for hanging your clothes, luggage rack, en-suite toilet with bucket walk-in shower and wash basin sink, writing desk with solar lamp and carpets on the floor.
